Our Story

Hej! My name

is Jenna.

I am a sustainable food enthusiast from South Korea. Out of love towards my culture and food, I started Jenna’s KIMCHI in January 2021, when I was living in Madrid.

As I became more and more passionate about my entrepreneurial journey, I decided to continue Jenna’s KIMCHI when I moved to Sweden.

How it started

Jenna's KIMCHI

I have always been interested in having my own business as for me, it is important to work on something I really love and care about.

Back in uni, I came across several volunteer works that promoted Korean culture and learned how intriguing Korean culture can be to people from different backgrounds. One of the most beautiful memories in my life was made in a small village in Indonesia, teaching Korean language and Korean cuisine to the local students.

When I moved abroad, I found so much joy in making Korean food and sharing with my friends from all over the world. I also have noticed that Korean culture and cuisine was getting lots of recognition. However, it was quite challenging to find the genuine taste of Korea in Europe.

Two Motivations

Introducing Korean Culture to Swedish food market

As a Korean born and raised living abroad, I think that Korean culture deserves a bigger awareness through our amazing food culture. I have seen some kimchi in Swedish food market but was not able to find an authentic one, so I decided to make one. Making kimchi in Sweden is something priceless for me as it connects my home country Korea and my new home Sweden.

Providing interesting option to the sustainable food industry

Although kimchi is typically not vegan (Kimchi often contains heavily salted raw shrimp or fish sauce), I decided to make all Jenna’s KIMCHI vegan as I myself is vegan. Numerous studies have shown the importance of consuming more plant-based food for our planet, lives, and health. From my personal experience, I know that having a wider range of sustainable food options really helps a person’s ability to eat more sustainable food. At Jenna’s KIMCHI, we strive to develop all our products sustainable including packaging and labelling. We are happy to provide an interesting, sustainable, and delicious food option to the table for vegans and non-vegans who try to eat greener.

We are proud and happy to offer authentic, homemade, vegan kimchi here in Sweden.

We are continuously looking for further opportunities to introduce our kimchi.
